Art Basel sees this spectacular medieval city transformed into the beating heart of the modern and contemporary art world for three days in June. More than 4,000 artists and 200 galleries come together to exhibit and sell a panoply of highly collectible and sought-after work across the Basel region, while the fair's Parcours section turns the city's churches, tunnels and roundabouts into galleries.

It was the world's most important fair before I came, it is now, and it will continue to be after I've left.
